Before you sign up for anything

You probably don't need a trip planner.

Most trips are fine in a notes app. Here's where each option actually stops working.

A Notes App

Great at first. Quickly disorganized.

A great first option for when you need to quickly draft a trip, Apple Notes, etc. Work great on mobile, but things quickly get disorganized and making sense of it can be a journey in itself.

A spreadsheet

Fine until the plan moves.

Unbeatable for costs, and you already know how to use it. But every time a flight shifts you're re-typing rows, timezones are a column you maintain by hand, and it's miserable to access on your phone.

Google Maps lists

Great at places. Not a plan.

The best place data there is, RPlan links straight to Google Maps for directions. What it won't do is tell you what order your days go in, what any of it costs, or what's still unbooked.

Sharing & location

Nothing is shared until you share it.

RPlan feature public pages for family and friends to follow a trip, it can also show where you are while a trip is running. Both are off until you switch them on, and both switch off again the moment you say so.

Off by default

Your public page doesn't exist until you create it. There is no discoverable directory.

Named codes

Create and grant as many access codes as you like. Each can be removed independently and will kill access instantly.

Location opt-in

Live location is a separate option, switchable per access code, with location data only captured while a trip is running.

Your data

Export the whole trip as a PDF whenever you like. Location and secrets data (booking references, etc.) are encrypted everywhere.
