What RPlan is built on.

RPlan wouldn't exist without a number of fantastic projects and the open-source community. Everything I've used is listed here along with its respective licence.

Mapping

OpenStreetMap

Maps in the app are built on data from OpenStreetMap, made available by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. OpenStreetMap data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and is available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Full details are available at openstreetmap.org/copyright.

Leaflet

A JavaScript library used to render and interact with maps. © 2010–2025 Vladimir Agafonkin, © 2010–2011 CloudMade. Licensed under the BSD 2-Clause License.

MapTiler

Map tiles, for both light and dark mode, are provided by MapTiler, built on OpenStreetMap data via the open-source OpenMapTiles schema. Map attribution (© MapTiler, © OpenStreetMap contributors) and the Leaflet credit are displayed on the map itself.

Leaflet plugins

  • Leaflet.markercluster (MIT License) - groups map markers into clusters
  • leaflet-ant-path (MIT License) - animated path lines on the map
  • leaflet-gesture-handling (MIT License) - prevents accidental map scrolling on embedded maps

Google Maps

When you search for a place, your text is sent via RPlan's servers to the Google Places API to resolve it into a location. You never make a direct connection to any Google API within the app. Travel times between plans, are powered by Google's Routes API. When RPlan links you out to Google Maps for directions or additional place information they take you to Google directly, subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
